    1. Problem-solution (Persuasive writing)
      • Outline a problem and its reasons (probably effects as well); present the possible solutions to it
    2. Argumentative (one-sided/ two-sided)
      • present the pros and cons of an issue; support the arguments with strong evidence; May have to specify your personal standpoint

Paragraph 1 Introduction (Word Count: ~70)

  • Raise the issue and describe the current situation (e.g. news, statistics etc.); express the purpose of writing

Paragraph 2 Analyze the major factors (Word Count: 120-140)

  • Usually 2 reasons

Paragraph 3 Suggest 2 corresponding solutions (Word Count: 80-100)

Paragraph 4 Conclusion (Word Count: 50-70)
  • Summarize the suggestions and highlight the future prospect
  • May bring out the key message again
